Scenario Reliability Self-AssessmentsOperational IssuesWithin the Reference Case, for the summer of 2009, there is only 39 MW 61 of expected on-peakwind capacity on the New England system, so operational challenges from the integration ofvariable resources are negligible at this time. However, under the Scenario Case, 829 MW ofonshore wind capacity and 2,901 MW of offshore wind capacity are assumed commercialized forthe target assessment year 2018. With 3,730 MW of wind resources projected, the anticipatedoperational issues are currently being examined by ISO-NE. Figure New England-5-1 shows amap of planned and operating wind projects in New England.61 As of March 2009, almost 100 MW of nameplate, utility-scale wind generation projects were on line with in theISO-NE system.Page 822009 Scenario Reliability Assessment
