Willi Werner et al., was tried at Dachau, Germany, during the period July 21–23, 1947, before a General Military Government Court. The case concerned two defendants accused of partici pating in the operations of Mauthausen Concentration Camp and its sub camps and thereby, on the principle of common design, implicated in mass atrocities and other war crimes. One of the accused, Bruno Schmidt, a guard at the subcamp Oberilzmuehle, was acquitted. Willi Werner, a Waffen SS master sergeant and commander of Camp Oberilzmuehle, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
