USA 492–Two secret SIPO orders, dated Jan. 2 <strong>and</strong> 23, 1941, directing the<br />

reclassification of <strong>concentration</strong> <strong>camp</strong>s. Mauthausen is classified as a<br />

Category III <strong>camp</strong> for “heavily accused prisoners.” Also included is a letter,<br />

dated July 26, 1943, signed by Ernst Kaltenbrunner, regarding the establish­<br />

ment of labor reformatory <strong>camp</strong>s. All are original German­language docu­<br />

ments. Also filed under PS­1063. (Box 45)<br />

USA 515–Affidavit of Alois Hoellriegl, dated Nov. 7, 1945, attesting to the<br />

fact that he was a member of the Totenkopf SS, stationed at Mauthausen<br />

from Jan. 1940 until the end of the war, <strong>and</strong> that he witnessed Kaltenbrunner<br />

attending a gas chamber execution in the fall of 1942. Original, signed,<br />

German­language document with English translation. Also filed under<br />

USA 516–Affidavit of Alois Hoellriegl, dated Dec. 17, 1945, testifying to<br />

the authenticity of six enclosed photographs showing Mauthausen Com­<br />

m<strong>and</strong>ant Franz Ziereis, Ernst Kaltenbrunner, <strong>and</strong> Heinrich Himmler on<br />

an inspection tour of Mauthausen. The photographs (3 by 4 in., b&w, cap­<br />

tioned but undated) were submitted for verification by Lt. Jack Taylor. The<br />

folder also includes an 8­ by 10­inch enlargement of each photo. Also filed<br />

USA 521–Affidavit of Adolf Zutter, Adjutant of Mauthausen Concentration<br />

Camp, stating that he saw an order, now destroyed, signed by Kaltenbrunner<br />

for the Jan. 1945 execution of the American­British mission to Slovakia.<br />

USA 526–Affidavit of Walter Schellenberg, dated Nov. 19, 1945, implicat­<br />

ing Kaltenbrunner in several executions <strong>and</strong> testifying to Kaltenbrunner’s<br />

conversations regarding 1944 visits to Mauthausen. Original, signed<br />
