ETO Case 000­50­5­43, U.S. v. Franz Pavela, was tried at Dachau, Germany<br />

during the period September 24–26, 1947, before a General Military<br />

Government Court. The case concerned one defendant, an Austrian<br />

national <strong>and</strong> former inmate <strong>and</strong> block eldest at the Mauthausen sub­<strong>camp</strong>s<br />

Schwechat (sometimes called Haidfeld), Florisdorf, <strong>and</strong> Hinterbruehl. As<br />

approved by the reviewing authority, Pavela was sentenced to 25 years in<br />

prison.<br />
