ETO Case 000­50­5­24, U.S. v. Josef Bartl et al., was tried at Dachau,<br />

Germany, during the period July 29–August 5, 1947, before a general Military<br />

Government Court. The case concerned 10 defendants accused of partici­<br />

pating in the operations of Mauthausen Concentration Camp <strong>and</strong> its sub­<br />

<strong>camp</strong>s <strong>and</strong> thereby, on the principle of common design, implicated in mass<br />

atrocities <strong>and</strong> other war crimes. All of the convicted accused, listed below,<br />

with the exceptions of Edward Ohnmacht <strong>and</strong> Herman Zuleger, were mem­<br />

bers of the SS at Linz III. Ohnmacht <strong>and</strong> Zuleger were civilian foremen at<br />

the Hermann Goering Plant located in the vicinity of the sub­<strong>camp</strong>. Inmates<br />

worked as slave laborers in the plant.<br />
