OTHER GRANT OPPORTUNITIES<br />

FEMA provides State and local governments with<br />

preparedness program funding in the form of nondisaster<br />

grants to enhance the capacity of State and<br />

local emergency responders to prevent, respond to, and<br />

recover from a weapons of mass destruction terrorism<br />

incident involving chemical, biological, radiological,<br />

nuclear and explosive devices and cyber attacks.<br />

Grants are also awarded to local fire departments<br />

to enhance their ability to protect the public and<br />

fire service personnel from fire and related hazards.<br />

Firefighter-related grants include:<br />

• Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)<br />

• Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency<br />

Response (SAFER) Grants<br />

• Assistance to Firefighters Station Construction<br />

Grants (SCG)<br />

<strong>GOHSEP</strong> is the SAA. The SAA or the State’s EMA apply<br />

to FEMA for the EMPG and HSGP program funds on<br />

behalf of State and local emergency management<br />

agencies.<br />
