Majda'a b. H%%ha; Sa'd b. Khaythama, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> "leaders" who was killed at<br />

Badr; Rifa'a b. 'Abd al-Mundhi b. Zunayr, a "leader", at Badr; 'Abd Allah b.<br />

Jubayr b. al-Nu'man b. Umayya b. al-Burak, at Badr, killed at Uhud where he was<br />

a commander <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bowmen; Ma'an b. 'Adi b. al-Jadd b. 'Ajlim b. al-Haith b.<br />

Dubay% al-Balawi, an ally <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Aws, present at Badr and its aftermath and died<br />

a martyr in al-Yamaa; 'Uwaym b. Sa'ida, who attended Badr and <strong>the</strong>reafter.<br />

From <strong>the</strong> Khazraj <strong>the</strong>re were 62 men: Aba Aflb Khdid b. Zayd, who participated<br />

at Badr and <strong>the</strong>reafter, dying a martyr in Byzantine territory during <strong>the</strong><br />

reign <strong>of</strong> Mu%wiya; Mu%dh b. al-Harith, along with his bro<strong>the</strong>rs 'Awf and<br />

Mu'awwidh, sons <strong>of</strong> 'Afra', all at Badr; Umara b. Hazm who witnessed Badr and<br />

<strong>the</strong>reafter, was killed in al-Yamaa; As'ad b. Znriira Aba Urnitma, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

"leaders", who died before Badr; Sahl b. 'Atik, at Badr; Aws b. Thabit b.<br />

al-Mundhir, at Badr; Aba Talha Zayd b. Sahl, at Badr; Qays b. Aba Sa'sa'a 'Amr<br />

b. Zayd b. 'Awf b. Mabdhal b. 'Amr b. Ghanm b. Mein, a commander <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

rear-guard at Badr; 'Arnr b. Ghaziyya; Sa'd b. al-Rabi: one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> "leaders", who<br />

was at Badr and was killed at Uhud.<br />

Also <strong>the</strong>re were 'Abd Allah b. Raw*a, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> "leaders"; he was present at<br />

Badr, Uhud and <strong>the</strong> khandaq, "<strong>the</strong> trench". He was hilled at <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong> Mu'ta,<br />

acting as commander. Also <strong>the</strong>re was Bashir b. Sa'd, at Badr, and 'Abd All& b.<br />

Zayd b. Thalaba b. 'Abd Rabbihi, who was shown how to call people to prayer.<br />

He was present at Badr.<br />

Khallad b. Suwayd, who was present at Badr, Uhud and al-khandag. He died<br />

a martyr battling <strong>the</strong> Bana Qurayza; a millstone was hurled at him and it crushed<br />

hi. It is said that <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS) stated, "He will have <strong>the</strong><br />

reward <strong>of</strong> two martyrs."<br />

Also <strong>the</strong>re was Aba Mas'iid Wqba b. 'Amr, at Badr. However, <strong>Ibn</strong> Ishaq stated,<br />

"<br />

He was <strong>the</strong> youngest person to witness al-'Aqaba, and he was not present at Badr."<br />

<strong>The</strong>re was Ziyad b. Labid, at Badr, Farwa b. 'Amr b. Wadhafa; Khalid b.<br />

Qays b. Malik, at Badr; Rzfi' b. Malik, a "leader"; Dhakwan b. 'Abd Qays b.<br />

Khalda b. Mukhlid b. 'Amir b. Zurayq. He it is who was called both muh8ymriand<br />

ansdri, "Emigrant" and "Helper", because he stayed with <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God<br />

(SAAS) in Mecca until his migration to Medina. He was present at Badr and was<br />

killed at Uhud. Also <strong>the</strong>re was 'Abbad b. Qays b. 'Amir b. Khalid b. 'Amir b.<br />

Zurayq, at Badr, and his bro<strong>the</strong>r al-Hiirith b. Qays b. 'Amir, also at Badr.<br />

And al-Bar2 b. Ma'rar, a "leader" and <strong>the</strong> first man to pledge allegiance (at<br />

'Aqaba) according to <strong>the</strong> claim <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banii Salama. He died before <strong>the</strong> arrival <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Prophet</strong> (SAAS) in Medina and pledged to hi a third <strong>of</strong> his wealth. <strong>The</strong><br />

Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS) returned <strong>the</strong> money to his heirs. His son was Bishr<br />

b. al-Bars'; he was present at Badr, Uhud and al-khandaq. He died a martyc at<br />

Khaybar as a result <strong>of</strong> eating, along with <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS), from<br />

<strong>the</strong> poisoned sheep. God bless him!<br />

Also <strong>the</strong>re was Sin% b. Sayfi b. Sakhr, at Badr, al-Tufayl b. al-Nu'man b.<br />

Khans%', at Badr; be was killed at <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong> al-khandaq.
