IMAM ABU AL-FIDA' ISMAC~L IBN KATHfR 227<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banii Nabha; his mo<strong>the</strong>r was <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banii al-Nadir. He was killed <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

I would observe here that he is said to have accepted Islam.<br />

Rif%'a b. Zayd b. al-Tabiit and 'Abd All& b. Salam.<br />

I observe that <strong>the</strong> last-mentioned had earlier accepted Islam, God he pleased<br />

with him. <strong>Ibn</strong> Ishaq stated, "He was <strong>the</strong>ir rabbi and most learned man. His name<br />

had been al-Husayn, and when he accepted Islam <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS)<br />

named him 'Abd All&."<br />

<strong>Ibn</strong> Ishaq stated, "From <strong>the</strong> Bana Qurayza <strong>the</strong>re were al-Zubayr b. Bat% b.<br />

Wahb, 'Azzd b. Shamwil, and Ka'b b. Asad. <strong>The</strong> last-mentioned was <strong>the</strong> one<br />

who had signed for his tribe <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>the</strong>y broke in <strong>the</strong> year <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ahzzb,<br />

<strong>the</strong> schisms. Also <strong>the</strong>re were Shamwil b. Zayd, Jabal b. 'Amr b. Sukayna,<br />

From <strong>the</strong> Jews <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banii 'Amr b. 'Awf <strong>the</strong>re was Qardam b. 'Amr.<br />

From <strong>the</strong> Jews <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banii al-Najj% <strong>the</strong>re was Silsila b. Barham."<br />

<strong>Ibn</strong> Ishaq stated, "All <strong>the</strong>se men were rabbis and men <strong>of</strong> evil intent and full <strong>of</strong><br />

antagonism towards <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God (SAAS) and his Companions, God<br />

be pleased with <strong>the</strong>m. <strong>The</strong>y were those who asked <strong>the</strong> Messenger <strong>of</strong> God<br />

(SAAS) many questions in <strong>the</strong>ir desire to confuse and to express <strong>the</strong>ir obstinacy<br />

and disbelief. <strong>The</strong>y were men who made difficulties for Islam and who tried to<br />

extinguish it. Exceptions to this were 'Abd All& b. S h and Mukhayriq."<br />

<strong>Ibn</strong> Ish~q <strong>the</strong>n related <strong>the</strong> acceptance <strong>of</strong> Islam <strong>by</strong> 'Abd Allah b. Salim, along<br />
