Wmayr b. 'Awf, freed-man <strong>of</strong> Suhayl b. 'Amr: his name is given <strong>by</strong> al-Umawi<br />

and o<strong>the</strong>rs as 'Amr b. 'Awf. It is similarly given in both jahih wllections in <strong>the</strong><br />

account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dispatch <strong>of</strong> Aba Wbayda to Bahrayn.<br />

Wmayr b. Mdik b. Uhayb al-Zuhri, bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Sa'd b. Aba WaqqQ, martyred<br />

that day; 'Antara, freed-man <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bano Sulaym and also said to be a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> that tribe, but God knows best.<br />

'Awf b. al-H%rith b. Rifh b. al-Hbth al-Najjzri, he being <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> 'Afrz",<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Wbayd b. Tha'laba al-Najjaiyya: he was martyred that day;<br />

Wwaym b. Sa'ida al-Ansm, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bana Umayya b. Zayd; 'lyad h. Ghanm<br />

al-Fihri, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> initial Emigrants. May God be pleased with <strong>the</strong>m all!<br />

THE LETTER GHA YN.<br />

Ghannxm b. Aws al-Khazraji: he was mentioned <strong>by</strong> al-Waqidi, though <strong>the</strong>re is<br />

no concensus about him.<br />

Al-F&ih b. Bishr b. al-Fakih al-Khazraji; Farwa b. 'Amr b. Wadfa al-Khazraji.<br />

THE LETTER QAF.<br />

Qatxda b. al-Nu'mm al-Awsi: Qudaa b. Ma& al-Jumahi, an Emigrant, a<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Wthmzn and 'Abd All&. Qutba b. 'Amir b. Hadida alSulami; Qays<br />

b. alSakn al-Najjari; Qays b. Abii Sa'Sa'a 'Amr b. Zayd al-Maini, who was in<br />

command <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> rearguard at Badr. Qays b. Mubin b. Khalid al-Khazraji; Qays<br />

b. Mukhallad b. Tha'laba al-Najjzri.<br />

THE LETTER KAF.<br />

Ka'b b. Hammm, also known as Jammzr and b. Jammu. <strong>Ibn</strong> Hisham gave it as<br />

Ka'b b. Ghubshm. He is also known as Ka'b b. Mdik b. Tha'laba b. Jamma.<br />

Al-Umawi stated his identity to be Ka'b b. Tha'laba b. Habala b. Ghanm<br />

al-Ghassani, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> allies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bana al-Khazraj b. Sa'ida.
