<strong>the</strong> purpose for which it was devoted.<br />

The way <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Royal <strong>to</strong>mbs lies through a<br />

long <strong>and</strong> winding valley, or narrow gorge, closed<br />

in on ei<strong>the</strong>r side hy <strong>the</strong> calcareous Lybian rocks,
