lieved (although but a few moments before I had<br />

been anxious beyond measure for an audience),<br />

for <strong>the</strong> sight <strong>of</strong> those blood-stained sticks had<br />

indisposed me against Selim Pasha, <strong>and</strong> I should<br />

have looked upon him as upon one <strong>of</strong> those<br />
