1252. There should be audiovisual recording <strong>of</strong> all <strong>of</strong>ficial interviews with<br />

detained persons.<br />

1253. The burden <strong>of</strong> proving that treatment complies with <strong>the</strong> prohibition <strong>of</strong><br />

torture and o<strong>the</strong>r mistreatment should be on <strong>the</strong> State. 619<br />

1254. To ensure future compliance with <strong>the</strong> Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct for Law<br />

Enforcement Officials, 620 and <strong>the</strong> Basic Principles on <strong>the</strong> Use <strong>of</strong> Force and<br />

Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials, 621 <strong>the</strong> security forces should be<br />

trained in <strong>the</strong> human rights dimensions <strong>of</strong> detention and interrogation, and in<br />

particular <strong>the</strong> obligation to refuse to participate in any actions involving<br />

torture and o<strong>the</strong>r prohibited mistreatment.<br />

1255. The judiciary and prosecutorial personnel should be trained on <strong>the</strong><br />

need to ensure that <strong>the</strong>ir activities contribute to <strong>the</strong> prevention and eradication<br />

<strong>of</strong> torture and mistreatment.<br />
