Between 1880 and 1900 a large nection <strong>of</strong> the Liberal<br />

Party succumbed to the new Imperialism$ either through<br />

expediency or through l<strong>ac</strong>k <strong>of</strong> resistance to convincing<br />

War in 1885, was perhaps the high point <strong>of</strong> Liberal<br />

nationalistic foreign policy; especially important<br />
