There was also the Anti-Aggreosion League 'which was<br />

originally formed early in 1882, on the initiative <strong>of</strong><br />

Herbert Spencer after meetings at the hone <strong>of</strong> Lord iiobhousa.<br />

initially on the council, but, <strong>ac</strong>cording to Frederick<br />

Harrison, much <strong>of</strong> the membership had become loan enthusiastic<br />

The Pe<strong>ac</strong>e Societies played a large part in anti-<br />

war agitation. The lon<strong>go</strong>et established wan the Pence<br />

Society formed in 1824w which was mainly Nonconformist and<br />

quaker in compositions - its presidents were frequently drawn<br />
