The Patriotic Association hold two meetings in London,<br />

first on 18th February, <strong>of</strong> friends and admirers <strong>of</strong> Gordon,<br />

had only a small audience <strong>of</strong> one hundred people.<br />

the second on 25th February in Knightsbridge, wan no<br />

crowded that an overflow meeting had to be held. The<br />

platform included the usual group <strong>of</strong> Conservative M. Po,<br />

such an Stafford Northooto and Edward Stanhope.<br />

A "urther meeting consisted mainly <strong>of</strong> City financiers,<br />

roprecontatived <strong>of</strong> the Stock Exchange and Corn Exchange,<br />

and voted to continue the war.<br />

Anti-Government meetings were hold in Manchester<br />

on 25th Februarys Mansfield on 5th March and Kidders<br />

on 6th March.<br />
