"Mine and Quarry" for April, 1914, published<br />

by the Sullivan Machine Co., Chicago, is just out,<br />

and contains some exceptionally interesting articles<br />

relative to niining affairs where the company's<br />

product is in use.<br />

"Frogs and Switches" is the title of a neat<br />

little booklet issued by the Helmick Foundry-<br />

Machine Co., Fairmont, W. Va., descriptive of that<br />

class of product of the company's plant.<br />

The Chicago Coal Dealers' association has appointed<br />

a committee to investigate the matter of<br />

weights, both at the mines and at destination. An<br />

effort will be made to formulate a set of rules<br />

which will do justice to all parties concerned, and<br />

a sub-committee has been named to draw up these<br />

rules and submit them to the association.<br />

The Canadian Retail Coal association will hold<br />

its annual meeting at Toronto this year, June 18<br />

and 19 having been fixed as the dates. The program<br />

for the convention has not yet been arranged.<br />

The Illinois Mining Institute is holding its meetings<br />

at Peoria, 111., the sessions beginning today,<br />

May 14, and continuing through May 15 and 16.
