dazu passt
The new Sofitel hotels brand slogan combines French joie de vivre with Bavarian cosiness at the Munich
Bayerpost. In a LiM interview, Eva Schömann, Director of Business Development, explains how
the new motto is implemented, where the French red, white and blue influence can be felt and why the
Bavarian white and blue joie de vivre fits in perfectly with it.
LiM: Seit Sommer 2019 hat Sofitel Hotels
& Resorts den Leitspruch „Live the French
way“ zur Markenbotschaft aller Sofitel
Häuser gemacht. Pourquoi, warum?
E. Schömann: Sofitel geht mit der Zeit.
Der Slogan klingt jünger und frischer als
unser früheres Credo und Gäste assoziieren
die Marke mit einer französischen
Luxus Brand, der das Moderne mit dem
französischen Lifestyle verbindet. Und
so kam es zu diesem neuen Leitspruch,
bei uns im Hotel leben wir also „The
French Way“.
LiM: Wird im Umgang mit den Gästen
dann neben Englisch auch mehr französisch
gesprochen als deutsch, beziehungsweise
bairisch? Also: Bonjour statt
Grüß Gott? Und au revoir statt Pfiat
Eahna Gott?
E. Schömann: Im Umgang mit unseren
Gästen ändert dies nicht viel! Wir
begrüßen sie schon immer mit einem
lächelnden „Bonjour“ und sprechen dann
natürlich bestmöglich immer in der Landessprache
des Gastes. Das ist und bleibt
unser Anspruch als Luxushotel. Der Gast
spürt den französischen Einfluss viel
mehr in unserem Dekor, dem Produktangebot
und unserem Service-Stil. Der verbindet
wie unser Logo, der Link, immer
das Französische mit dem Lokalen.
LiM: Wie passen französische Lebensfreude
und bayerische Gemütlichkeit
zusammen oder wie ergänzen sie sich?
E. Schömann: Beide passen perfekt
zu einander. Die gewisse Art von uns
Bayern und Münchnern ist dem französischen
Lebensstil sehr nah. Die
moderne „French Art de Vivre“ mit Attributen
wie Freiheit, kulinarische Künste,
dem French Chic und der Kunst etwas in
Szene zu setzen, entspricht genau unseren
Münchner Werten: Wie Stolz unserer
French
joie de vivre
and Bavarian cosiness
LiM: Since summer 2019, Sofitel Hotels &
Resorts has made ‘Live the French way’ the
brand slogan for all Sofitel hotels. Pourquoi,
why?
E. Schömann: Sofitel is moving with the times.
The slogan sounds younger and fresher than
our former motto and guests associate it with
a French luxury brand that combines modernity
with the French lifestyle. And that’s how
our new motto came about - in our hotel, we
live ‘The French Way’.
LiM: So besides English, do you speak more
French than German or Bavarian when dealing
with your guests? For example: more
bonjour than Grüss Gott? More au revoir than
auf Wiedersehen?
E. Schömann: It doesn’t alter the way we deal
with our guests much! We have always welcomed
them with a smile and a “Bonjour”, then
of course we always speak the guest’s own
language whenever possible. That always has
been and remains our aim as a luxury hotel.
Our guests feel the French influence much
more in our decor, our product range and our
service style. Just like our logo, the link, it
unites French and local influences.
LiM: How do French joie de vivre and Bavarian
cosiness go together, or how do they complement
one another?

Sie weiß, wie sich bayerischer und französischer Lebensstil ergänzen: Eva Schömann, Director of Business Development.
She knows how well the Bavarian and French ways of life complement one another: Eva Schömann, Director of Business Development.
E. Schömann: They both suit one another
perfectly. Our Bavarian and Munich style is
very close to the French lifestyle. The modern
‘French Art de Vivre’ with its attributes such
as freedom, the culinary arts, French chic and
the art of putting something in the perfect
setting corresponds exactly to our values in
Munich: our pride in our culture and freedom,
the ‘Mia san Mia’ and our love of ‘seeing and
being seen’.
