NEWS Dr Markus Miele

NEWS Dr Markus Miele Executive Director and Co-Proprietor, Miele Vestel Takes Manufacturing to the Next Level From 8k flat panels to state-of-the-art appliances, Turkish producer puts on its biggest IFA show Miele Aims to Reinvent Cooking German manufacturer heralds “biggest launch since induction cooking” Miele said its new Dialog oven is faster and more versatile than any other cooking product. Speaking at the company’s IFA press conference, Dr Markus Miele, Miele’s Executive Director and Co-Proprietor, said that for the very first time, a technology is being deployed in which electromagnetic waves respond to the texture of food “in an intelligent manner”. During the unveiling of the Dialog oven, a chef demonstrated it by cooking a fish in a block of ice, at 56 degrees, without the ice melting. Miele said: “The time has now come to reinvent cooking – with the Dialog oven from Miele. Meat, for example, is cooked more uniformly, retaining its juices. Fish and vegetables keep their fine structure and dough rises significantly better. “Various fresh ingredients for a complete meal can be placed together on an oven tray and are all finished to perfection at exactly the same time – and up to 70% faster than using conventional cooking methods.” The Dialog oven will launch in April 2018. Dr Reinhard Zinkann, Miele’s Executive Director and Co- Proprietor, said that total sales grew 5.9% to €3.93bn; while in Germany the company’s sales grew 6.8%. “Miele is once again the undisputed market leader in Europe,” he added. Other product highlights on the Miele stand include Scout RX2, a web-enabled and app-controlled robotic vacuum cleaner. Zinkann said the premium Scout RX2 Home Vision model can be relayed live to a tablet or smartphone. He added that all data is protected with end-toend encryption. Also new from Miele is the CM5 coffee machine, a compact unit, available in five colours, with retail prices ranging from €799 to €2,199 Hall 2.1 Stand 101 Vestel, the Turkey-based manufacture of consumer electronics, mobile technologies, household appliances, TV displays and LED lighting, is back at IFA with a huge 3,000 sq m stand. The focus in 2017 is Industry 4.0 manufacturing technologies that facilitate better automation and data exchange across a range of products – a technology showcased at the Vestel City Industry 4.0 World section of the stand. 73% percent of Vestel’s production is rebadged by leading Japanese and European brands and sold to 146 countries. Using Industry 4.0, Vestel has produced an impressive diversity of leading edge CE products, among them a new range of borderless and ultra-narrow bezel UHD TVs – with annual manufacturing capacity of 18 million television sets, Vestel controls 21 percent of the European market for flat panel TVs, in addition to manufacturing panels for Toshiba. While Vestel’s focus on ultra slim design is aimed at promoting a refined and elegant aesthetic, an immersive viewing experience is also promised via HDR technology, wide colour gamut panels and OLED and Quantum Dot LED displays. Also on show at IFA 2017 is Vestel’s next generation 8K TV with 7680 x 4320 panels, the highest resolution on the market. Vestel is also launching a range of connected household appliances including washing machines equipped with an Amazon Dash Button that detects low detergent or softener levels and orders them from the Amazon website. Also on board is Intelli-Wash, which automatically selects the correct washing cycle programme depending on the detected parameters. A new range of dishwashers are also on show that utilise SilentWash, a technology that promises the world’s quietest wash programme at only 36 dB(A) - meaning the machine can be operated in the middle of the night. Brilliart is another innovation which allows users to wash all dishes with a single 1 Touch Run button without the need for programme adjustments Hall 8.2 Stand 101 www.ifa-international.org IFA International • Friday 1 st September 2017 23
