Are the current changes in care provision women-centered? And whatwould be the best improvements of the maternity care organization from the clients perspective? A number of studies usingquantitative and qualitative methods will be undertaken with a focus on the model of primary care midwifery in the Netherlands, taking the perspective of women who have experienced care.DoelThe objective of the PhD thesis is to gain insight into theorganization of care and the interaction with client satisfaction withthe current care and their suggestions as to what could be changedwithin the organization of primary maternity care in the Netherlandsand get the client perspective on how to improve the experience ofwomen with maternity care.Vraagstelling/HypotheseHow is the organization of- ,what are the experiences of women with -,and what are women’s suggestions for improvement oftheprimary maternity care in the Netherlands? What are the views of care providers (MCAs) about providingcontinuous support in labour?RelevantieThe studies will add to the current discussions about changes in thematernity care system in the Netherlands. It will provide a source ofinformation for health professionals and policy makers which canbe used in making evidence based choices about the maternity careorganization.Projectleider(s)Carien Baas, RM, MScProjectuitvoerder(s)Promotoren: Prof. E. However, the biological, behavioral and social mechanisms by which CP group care may have its effects as well asthe specific underlying determinants that maximize this effectiveness are still unknown. To identify possible effective mechanismswithin the CP care model interviews with care providers are undertaken. In addition an indicator list is developed for professionalsto register care provision, group activities in the CP care model and group behavior. The indicator list is implemented in allorganizations providing CP and is completed by each CP provider after each group session. Women who receive CP will be askedto fill out a client version of the indicator list after the first, fourth and last CP session. Data from the professional and client’sindicator lists will be analyzed to determine the level of fidelity to the CP model, level of care provision, level of facilitativeleadership and group behavior and the relation between those determinants. Within the Connect-In study, quantitative dataanalyses will be performed to assess the relation between level of delivery of the CP model measured with the indicator list, clientand group characteristics and intermediate outcomes.DoelTo identify behavioral and social mechanisms by which CP groupcare may have its effects as well as the specific underlyingdeterminants that maximize this effectivenessVraagstelling/HypotheseWhat are the behavioral, social and organizational mechanisms bywhich CP group care may have its effects.RelevantieBy identifying ‘active ingredients’ of CP we can better understand theimpact of CP on outcomes, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, women’sexperience of care, clinicians and settings, and long-termsustainability. This is important because sites and clinicians maymodify Centering either in response to challenges they confront inimplementing Centering or for a variety of other reasons and someversions of group prenatal care may not follow the CP protocol.Projectleider(s)Dr. Marlies RijndersProjectuitvoerder(s)Dr. Marlies RijndersContact projectDr. Marlies Rijndersmarlies.rijnders@tno.nlBegin en einddatumBegindatum: 1 september 2014Einddatum: 1 september 2016SamenwerkingspartnersDrs.
