72 JAARINDEX 2014 KENNISPOORT VERLOSKUNDEWWW.KENNISPOORT-VERLOSKUNDE.NL 7372 73ORGANISATIEINNOVATIEORGANISATIEINNOVATIEThe impact of obstetric team training on management and outcomeof the Big 4 causes of perinatal mortality in the NetherlandsInventarisation of (interventions in) protocols that optimize a normalbirth process in EuropeIn Nederland worden laag-risico zwangeren in de eerste lijn begeleid en hoog-risico zwangeren in de tweede/derde lijn. RelevantiePerinatale sterfte in Nederland is relatief hoog. Projectleider(s)Dr. P.J. van Runnard HeimelDr. H. WijnenProjectuitvoerder(s)Drs. F.R. There are significant cross-EU differences in maternitycare cultures, philosophies, organization, uptake, and outcomes. The wide diversity of practices in Europe raises questionsabout the appropriate level of intervention during childbirth. Striking the right balance in terms of intervention in the normalbirth process between what best evidence suggests is medically beneficial and what effectively is ritualised practice as wellascertaining what women want is problematic. Even the definition of normal birth and defining what may be accepted as interventionposes a not insignificant challenge. In this study we aim to compare protocols between 21 European Countries. The focus of our comparison will be the interventionsdescribed in protocols that optimize a normal birth process as well as the proposed use of interventions that are potentiallyharmful to optimize the birth process.DoelTo advance scientific knowledge about ways of improving maternitycare provision and outcomes for mothers, babies and families acrossEurope.Vraagstelling/HypotheseWhich evidence based interventions aimed at the promotion ofnormal birth are incorporated in national or widely used protocolsin Europe.RelevantieThe wide diversity of practices in Europe raises questions about theappropriate level of intervention during childbirth. It is important togain insight in determinants that might influence the balance ofinterventions in the normal birth process that are medicallybeneficial and those that are ritualized and potential harmful forpregnant women.Projectleider(s)Dr. Marlies Rijnders, TNO Child HealthProjectuitvoerder(s)Doug Cronie Msc, Lucas Ziekenhuis AmsterdamDr. Marlies Rijnders, TNO Child HealthContact projectDoug Cronie MScD.cronie@slaz.nlBegin en einddatumdecember 2013 - december 2015Samenwerkingspartners21 EU partners collaborating in the Cost action IS0907: ChildbirthCultures, Concerns, and Consequences: Creating a dynamic EUframework for optimal maternity care
