Crimeis constantly evolving, in interaction with criminal policies and/ornew opportunities. Criminology as a science and criminologists asprofessionals have to follow these evolutions, trying to be as close aspossible to the criminal reality.In the beginning of the 21st century, in Europe and anywhereelse, crime could be committed by a single person or by individualslinked by various kinds of relationships. If the organizationaldimension is more and more regularly integrated in criminologicalresearches, it still sometimes appears as being opposed to a more‘traditional criminology’ that is focused on the study of the individualcriminal behaviours. The ESC 2010 annual conference will try toovercome this opposition by fostering a criminology that works onthis double level of analysis (individual – organizational) and alsoby stimulating bridges between them.
