afixadas informações sobre a
história da colonização da
Amazônia.
No circuito externo,
denominado Sítio Histórico de
Fundação da Cidade, estão
expostos os vestígios
arquitetônicos revelados por
escavações arqueológicas:
rampas de acesso ao
terrapleno (1808), casa de
pólvora (1697) e o forno de
balas ardentes (1808), além
das peças de artilharia.
Ao circular pela Praça das
Armas ou visualizá-la do
terrapleno do forte, o visitante
pode sentir a dimensão do local
que, no passado, acolheu os
primeiros conquistadores.
Desde a Praça ao topo da
muralha é possível absorver a
sensação de participar da
história, trazida pela brisa que
sopra do Atlântico até
encontrar a bela Baía de
Guajará, o rio de águas
barrentas que recebeu os
fundadores desta Belém.

(1808), as well as artillery pieces.
By strolling around Armas
Square or by looking at it from
the fort’s terreplein, the visitor
may sense the dimensions of
the place that welcomed the
first conquerors in years past.
From the Square to the top
of the walls, one can experience
the thrill of participating in
history, brought by the breeze
that flows in from the Atlantic
all the way to the beautiful Baía
de Guajá, the river with muddy
waters that welcomed the
founders of Belém.
