Seu nome evoca a data da
célebre Batalha do Riachuelo,
ocorrida durante a Guerra do
Paraguai, mas ainda é conhecida
como Praça do Arsenal, por
abrigar o edifício do Comando
do 4º Distrito Naval.
Também na sua lateral é
encontrado o portal de acesso
ao parque Mangal das Garças,
atração turística da cidade.
É margeada pela avenida
que leva o nome do patrono
da Marinha – Almirante
Tamandaré –, cujo busto
ornamenta seu centro. Os

utilizam o local para lazer

The name alludes to the
date of the famous Riachuelo
Battle, during the Paraguay
War, but it is still known as
Arsenal Square, since it is
home to the building of the 4 th
Naval District Command.
On one of its sides is the
gate that leads to Mangal das
Garças Park, a tourist
attraction.
It is bordered by the avenue
named after the Navy’s patron –
Admiral Tamandaré –, whose
