das áreas posteriores ao prédio
tinha tamanho tão significativo
que nela pôde ser realizado o
VI Congresso Eucarístico
Nacional (1953), com
participação de milhares de
pessoas. Esse evento permitiu
ao povo referenciá-la durante
muitos anos como Praça do
Congresso. Décadas depois,
plenamente urbanizada pela
prefeitura, passou a se chamar
Praça Kennedy. Hoje, em uma
justa homenagem ao que é
considerado o maior músico e
maestro paraense, chama-se
Praça Waldemar Henrique.
Um dos pontos mais
representativos da capital do
Pará, defronte às Docas do
Ver-o-Peso, em local onde
deveria ter funcionado o
prédio da Bolsa de Valores —
idéia da época do Ciclo da
Borracha —, foi inaugurada
em 1931 a pequena Praça
Siqueira Campos, hoje Praça
do Relógio, cuja atração
principal é um relógio
importado da Inglaterra
montado sobre uma torre de
ferro, que permanece até a
atualidade.

behind that building was wide
enough to house the VI
National Eucharistic Congress
(1953), attended by thousands
of people. For years
afterwards, the place was
popularly referred to as
Congress Square. Decades
later, fully urbanized by the
municipal administration, it
was renamed Kennedy Square.
Nowadays, as a just tribute to
the man who is regarded as
Pará’s greatest musician and
conductor, it is called
Waldemar Henrique Square.
The small Siqueira Campos
Square, one of the most
representative spots in the
capital of Pará, located in front
of the Ver-o-Peso Docks, on
the place originally intended
for the Stock Exchange
building, according to plans
from the Rubber Cycle, was
inaugurated in 1931. Currently
called Relógio Square (Clock
Square), its main feature, that
still exists to this day, is a
clock imported from England,
that stands on top of an iron
tower.
