únicas e inéditas pinturas
parietais oitocentistas em
trompe-l’oeil do país.
Toda sua arquitetura
externa e, principalmente,
interna, é de alta qualidade
artística, ressurgindo para a
cidade após a completa
restauração realizada em
1996.
Nos dias de hoje, o Largo
de São João está cercado por
edifícios públicos e quase
todo transformado em
estacionamento, não
permitindo mais seu usufruto
pelos moradores das
redondezas. Chama-se
oficialmente Praça República
do Líbano, nominação não
apreciada pela referência
popular.
Do antigo largo apenas
uma área lateral à igreja —
que contém um pináculo de
concreto homenageando
Antonio Landi — restou para
lembrar a outrora área de
festas e comemorações do
período junino.

The whole of its
architecture, both external
and internal (particularly the
latter), is of high artistic
quality, and the complete
restoration carried out in
1996 brought back its full
original brilliance.
Nowadays, the Largo de
São João Batista is
surrounded by public
buildings, and was almost
entirely turned into a parking
lot, which prevents the
people of the borough from
enjoying it. It is now officially
called República do Líbano
Square, but the name finds
no resonance in popular
usage.
Of the ancient largo, only
one area to the side of the
church remains, containing a
concrete pinnacle in honor of
Antonio Landi, as a memento
of the original site for the
June festivals of yore.
