hedging instruments in cash flow hedges. The average maturities are about 5 years.<br />

Privatstiftung zur Verwaltung von Anteilsrechten (the “Private Foundation”; until<br />

18 April 2001, “Anteilsverwaltung-Zentralsparkasse”)<br />

The Private Foundation is a contracting party to the “Bank of the Regions” agreement.<br />

A syndicate agreement has been concluded between the Private Foundation and Bayerische<br />

Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG, Munich. Under Section 92 (9) of the Austrian Banking<br />

Act, the Private Foundation serves as deficiency guarantor for all liabilities of BA-CA AG in<br />

the event of the company’s insolvency.<br />

The board of trustees of the Private Foundation has 14 members. Until 19 May 2005, six<br />

members of the Supervisory Board of BA-CA AG were members of the board of trustees<br />

of the Private Foundation; until 31 December 2005, five members of the Supervisory Board<br />

of BA-CA AG were members of the board of trustees; since 1 January 2006, four members<br />

of the Supervisory Board of BA-CA AG have been members of the board of trustees.<br />

After the change in the legal form of Anteilsverwaltung-Zentralsparkasse into a private<br />

foundation in 2001, the Municipality of Vienna serves as deficiency guarantor for all outstanding<br />

liabilities, and obligations to pay future benefits, of Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG<br />

(then Bank Austria Aktiengesellschaft) which were entered into prior to and including<br />

31 December 2001. The extent of the guarantee and the probability of it being enforced<br />

are examined by the Savings Bank Auditing Association on an annual basis.<br />

All related party transactions were banking transactions on market terms.<br />

The primary segment reporting format is based on the internal reporting structure of<br />

business segments, which reflects management responsibilities in the Bank Austria<br />

Creditanstalt Group in 2005. The business segments are presented as independent units<br />

with their own capital resources and are responsible for their own results. The definition<br />

of business segments is primarily based on organisational responsibility for customers.<br />

Organisational changes in responsibility may lead to changes in the definition of business<br />

segments during the year. On the basis of the new segment Large Corporates and Real<br />

Estate, the previous year’s figures were adjusted. The internal reporting structure in the<br />

Bank Austria Creditanstalt Group comprises the following business segments:<br />

As part of a restructuring of Austrian customer business, the previous business segments<br />

“Private Customers Austria” and “Corporate Customers Austria” were divided into three<br />

new segments: Private Customers Austria, SMEs Austria, and Large Corporates and Real<br />

Estate. The Private Customers Austria segment covers only private individuals. Business<br />

customers are now included in the SMEs Austria segment (previously in the Private Cus-<br />
