surfaces that were inclined to the data acquisition plane as is the case for
3D surface rendered images. This model was used for surgical planning
and reconstruction but was limited in the use for obtaining physical measurements.
These effects can be countered to some degree by using interpolation
between the original image data slices. Due the natural nature of
the cubic curve, the resulting interpolated data results in a good, smooth
and natural appearing surface.
Irregular surface due to support structures
Both SL and FDM TM required support structures during the build pro -
cess. These were subsequently cleaned from the model manually, although
