5.3 Digital Light Processing (DLP TM )<br />

5.3.1 Principle<br />

Liquid resin is cured to solid by visible light accurately projected as a twodimensional<br />

mask using a digital micro-mirror device (DMD). <strong>The</strong> cross<br />

sections are projected as images by the DMD onto the bottom <strong>of</strong> a shallow<br />

glass vat, curing the layers onto a rising build platform. Successive layers<br />

are cured by raising the build platform by an exact layer thickness and<br />

allowing resin to fl ow under the previous layer.<br />
