These factors combined with the inherent accuracy of stereolithography make it highly ap - propriate for medical modelling. The advantages and disadvantages of stereolithography are summarised in Table 5.1.
76 Medical modelling 5.11 Selectively coloured model showing the roots of teeth (see also colour section). 5.3 Digital Light Processing (DLP TM ) 5.3.1 Principle Liquid resin is cured to solid by visible light accurately projected as a twodimensional mask using a digital micro-mirror device (DMD). The cross sections are projected as images by the DMD onto the bottom of a shallow glass vat, curing the layers onto a rising build platform.
