land part <strong>of</strong> Cilicia, behind Tarsus and Anazarbus, perhaps at the modern Sis.<br />

Bags! was situated on the right bank <strong>of</strong> the Hermus, opposite to the modern Sirghie. For<br />

the determination <strong>of</strong> tliis and some other ancient positions in the valley <strong>of</strong> the Hermus, we are in-<br />

debted to the Earl <strong>of</strong> Albemarle (Keppel's Travels, ii. p. 367). Some <strong>of</strong> the <strong>coins</strong> <strong>of</strong> Bagse bear on<br />

the reverse a river-god, <strong>with</strong> the legend ePMOC.<br />
