Two tetrastyle temples ; that to the I., which has steps<br />

in the middle and a battlemented<br />

ro<strong>of</strong>, contains an altar between two figures to I. holding up their right<br />

hands ; the one radiate, the other crowned <strong>with</strong> crescent (statues <strong>of</strong> Sun and<br />

Moon) ; in pediment, a bust <strong>of</strong> Astarte. The temple to the r. has three doors,<br />

and in pediment two Victories holding a wreath ; below, r (or ^) K* (year 523<br />

or 526).<br />

Note.—The legend on this coin is imperfect, but is confirmed by two specimens in the B. M.<br />

Julia Domna.<br />

Tetrastyle temple, having steps to it in the middle, and containing a symbol <strong>of</strong><br />

Astarte between statues as before <strong>of</strong> Sun and Moon ; below, ZK* (year 527<br />

Sel., A.D. 215, the fifth year <strong>of</strong> the reign <strong>of</strong> Caracalla).<br />

Note.—From this coin it is evident that the temple to the left on the preceding coin is that <strong>of</strong><br />

Astarte ; and from the legend on that coin, that the temple to the right is that <strong>of</strong> Jupiter Agius.<br />
