By his affecti<strong>on</strong>ate C<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>,<br />

In Testim<strong>on</strong>y<br />

Of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir Gratitude for his highly-valuable<br />

Services,<br />

As <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir Pastor,<br />

Through <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> last Seventeen Years ;<br />

And <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir Venerati<strong>on</strong><br />

Of his Fidelity and Zeal,<br />

From early Manhood to h<strong>on</strong>ourable Age,<br />

In <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Cause<br />

Of Christian Knowledge, Liberty and<br />

Virtue.<br />

In his letter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> acknowledgment, addressed to John Jacks<strong>on</strong>, Esquire,<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Wroxal, an Elder <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>, Field says he will have much<br />

pleasure in c<strong>on</strong>tinuing to c<strong>on</strong>duct <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sunday services till his successor is<br />

chosen and ready to enter <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> duties <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice. This he did until<br />

1850, when John Gord<strong>on</strong>, who had recently settled in Kenilworth, became<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stated minister <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> society. Field's " Final Address <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir late<br />

Minister to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Kenilworth C<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>" was dated, Leam, April 25th,<br />

1850. At that time <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong> included am<strong>on</strong>gst its worshippers<br />

members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> families <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Aitkin, Beesley, Burberry, Carter, Chaplin,<br />

Girling, Hodgetts, Lampray, Pace, Powell, Russell, Stokes, and Wilmott.<br />

Towards <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> end <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 1891 <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> chapel was closed.<br />

Prior to closing <strong>on</strong>ly five pers<strong>on</strong>s attended. Mr. J. H. Burbery had almost<br />

entirely supported <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> chapel for some years, and <strong>on</strong> his death, early in<br />

1892, all fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r effort was aband<strong>on</strong>ed. There are <strong>on</strong>ly two former members<br />

living in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> neighbourhood, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y are both very old. For many years<br />

it appears that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> attendance did not exceed a dozen, including <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> choir."<br />

In closing this brief account <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> author can but express his str<strong>on</strong>g<br />

hope that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> day is not far <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>f when Divine worship will <strong>on</strong>ce more be<br />
