[A stately brass, with slightly larger circular head than any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs,
in it crest and coat <strong>of</strong> arms; inscription well displayed in <strong>the</strong> oblong, 11%
inches by 10 inches ; total height, 15% inches; double lined border all round.
Probably <strong>the</strong> " Thomas Keay, Esq., Whitchurch," in Belsham's list, who
entered Daventry academy in 1786 ; grandson to Ebenezer Keay ztt sup.]

[A most interesting brass, circular head, in which coat <strong>of</strong> arms ; inscription,
evidently engraved in sections as required, in <strong>the</strong> oblong, 12% inches by 10%
inches ; total height, 16% inches ; has border exactly similar to <strong>the</strong> Lydia
Collyer brass at sup. Thomas Yate was bro<strong>the</strong>r to Grace Yate, who married
Samuel Benion, M.D., minister at Broad Oak, 1696-1706, and Shrewsbury,
1706-170s. Dearnford, or Danford Hall, a fine old mansion, is about one mile
from Whitchurch, on road to Tilstock.]

died 15th June, 1746. 1 Aged 39. I
[The OLDEST brass in <strong>the</strong> series, circular headed, in which large skull,
with prominent eye sockets and teeth, and cross bones ; <strong>the</strong> first portion <strong>of</strong>
inscription-that to Samuel-is in different letters to any o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> brasses,
in <strong>the</strong> square, 10 inches by 10 inches ; total height, 13% inches. Samuel and
Abigail were bro<strong>the</strong>r and sister to Grace, who married Samuel Benion.]

LA circular headed brass, with coat <strong>of</strong> arms in it ; inscription in oblong,
I 1% inches by 10 inches ; total height, 16 inches. This is <strong>the</strong> brass <strong>of</strong> "<strong>the</strong>
old master <strong>of</strong> Dearnford," who was born, probably in 1672 ; <strong>the</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> a
large family.]

[A circular headed brass, with crest and coat <strong>of</strong> arms in it, also first
word <strong>of</strong> inscription ; rest in <strong>the</strong> oblong, 12 inches by 10 inches ; total height,
16% inches. This was <strong>the</strong> John Yate, extracts from whose diary were given
by <strong>the</strong> author in Seedsower, 1894, pp. 108-9. He lived in <strong>the</strong> old house in
Dodington, still standing, a little lower down than <strong>the</strong> meeting-house, on <strong>the</strong>
o<strong>the</strong>r side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> road.]
Beneath lie <strong>the</strong> Remains <strong>of</strong> l CONSTANCE MARY YATE I who
died 21st May, 1762, Aged IS. And I ANNA YATE I who died
15th June, 1762, Aged 17. 1 MARGARET YATE, Die4 26th I Feb :
1769, Aged 52.

Constance Mary and Anna were daughters <strong>of</strong> John and Constance Yate,
zrt XL@. ; Margaret was probably a daughter <strong>of</strong> Thomas and Lydia Yate zri sup.]
An accoulit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se brasses was given in <strong>the</strong> Transacws <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Monu-
mental Brass Society, No. 6, new series, January, 1897 ; also in <strong>the</strong> Church
Chronicle, No. 35, February, 1894, a copy <strong>of</strong> which is in <strong>the</strong> large Record
Book belonging to <strong>the</strong> Church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Saviour. Mounted rubbings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m,
taken by <strong>the</strong> author, were lent to <strong>the</strong> Exhibition <strong>of</strong> Shropshire Antiquities,
