THE WARWICKSHIRE AND ADJOINING COUNTIES UNITARIAN TRACT SOCIETY<br />
had existed from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> beginning <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> 19th century. It was established in<br />
Birmingham <strong>on</strong> 6 June, 1806, for<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> diffusioll <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> religious linowledge and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> practice <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> virtue by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
distributi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> books.<br />
In its formati<strong>on</strong> Dr. Toulmin-its first secretary-had a principal share,<br />
and, through its earliest stages, gave to it much <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his time and thought.<br />
Its annual proceedings held in June, July or August, comprised a service<br />
and serm<strong>on</strong> (sometimes two, <strong>on</strong>ce three), a business meeting, and a dinner<br />
with speeches. The following list <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> its meeting places, preachers, texts,<br />
