After an amendment-.moved by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. Mat<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>w Gibs<strong>on</strong>, supported<br />
by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. Edward Parry, and opposed by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Revs. CharIes Clarke,<br />
John Gord<strong>on</strong>, and Mr. W. Akroyd, to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> effect that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> word 'Unitarian '<br />
should be plxced in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> name <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> associati<strong>on</strong>-<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> original resoluti<strong>on</strong><br />
was carried by fourteen to six.<br />
The scope <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Uni<strong>on</strong>'s labours was definecl by a resoluti<strong>on</strong>, moved<br />
by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. Henry Enfield Dows<strong>on</strong>, B.A., viz. :<br />
Arrangements for religious services, encouragement <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> nlissi<strong>on</strong>ary opera-<br />
ti<strong>on</strong>s, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> employment <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> lay preachers, and especially <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a paid agent, and<br />
by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> publicati<strong>on</strong> and distributi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> books and tracts.<br />
On <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> moti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. Henry McKean, sec<strong>on</strong>ded by Mr. Isaac<br />

promptly accepted.
