Parkinson was Dudley lecturer in 1839, and Oldbury lecturer in 1838
and 1839. At <strong>the</strong> JfonthZy Jfeeting he preached on 6 March, 1838, in <strong>the</strong>
New Meeting, Birmingham. He is buried in <strong>the</strong> yard ; a discoloured tablet
in <strong>the</strong> meeting-house, close to <strong>the</strong> ceiling, and a flat stone over his grave
record his name and dates ; also those <strong>of</strong> his daughter, Marianne (d. 1841),
and <strong>of</strong>-
Susanna Dethick, daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rev. Jerm. Dethick, <strong>of</strong> Bardon Chapel,
who died March 15th, 1853, in <strong>the</strong> 86th year <strong>of</strong> her age.
In <strong>the</strong> burial ground is a stone to <strong>the</strong> memory <strong>of</strong>-
Elizabeth Grundy, Sister to <strong>the</strong> late Rev. John Grundy, <strong>of</strong> Manchester ; she
died December aoth, 1856, aged 78 years.
The exterior walls <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> meeting-house at back and sides are covered
with ivy, and <strong>the</strong> whole place outside and inside shows <strong>the</strong> care and attention
now paid to it. There is one centre aisle with seats on ei<strong>the</strong>r side ; at <strong>the</strong>
top <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aisle, immediately opposite to <strong>the</strong> well-curtained inner door,
stands <strong>the</strong> communion table, in front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pulpit, to <strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> which
is <strong>the</strong> organ with its gilt pipes, placed <strong>the</strong>re in 1879-80,
The registers, which <strong>the</strong> author saw in July, 1898, cover <strong>the</strong> period
from 1695 to 1837 for baptisms, and from 1822 to 1836 for burials.
