In 1890 <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Uni<strong>on</strong> (dissolved 1896) <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> various branches <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Guild <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Good Shepherd held its annual festival service in this chapel,<br />
and, in accordance with its custom, a short account <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>,<br />
its buildings and its ministers was included in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hand-book, printed for<br />
use <strong>on</strong> that occasi<strong>on</strong>. From it <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> following quotati<strong>on</strong>s are taken :-<br />
The c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong> was originally c<strong>on</strong>nected with an earlier building in Old-<br />
bury, which was superseded by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> present Parish Church in 1841. This<br />
building, called Ol'dJztry Chapel, appears to have been in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hands <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Presbyterians, before <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Act <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Uniformity [1662], and for many years<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y were left in undisturbed possessi<strong>on</strong>. It was built by subscripti<strong>on</strong> in<br />
1529, and licensed-but not c<strong>on</strong>secrated- by Jerome de Ghinuciis, Bishop<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Worcester, an Italian, who was afterwards deprived <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his See by Act .<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Parliament for n<strong>on</strong>-residence. This Chapel, with certain adjoining proper-<br />
ties-still in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> possessi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> School Trustees-was surrendered in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>
