1.1 General<br />

Presentation of the <strong>Automatic</strong> Control Function<br />

The NUM 1060 CNC is a multimaster multiprocessor system in which the automatic <strong>control</strong> <strong>function</strong> provides the<br />

interface with the NC machine-tool.<br />

The automatic <strong>control</strong> <strong>function</strong> processes <strong>function</strong>s involving the sensors and actuators on the NC machine-tool and<br />

Boolean and numerical data interfacing with the NC <strong>function</strong>.<br />

Its capabilities for accessing the CNC screen and simulating the operator panel make it very flexible to use, allowing<br />

the machine-tool OEM to customise the 1060 system for special applications.<br />

The automatic <strong>control</strong> <strong>function</strong> is located in the central processing unit. The central processing unit includes one or<br />

more cards and provides the CNC, graphic and automatic <strong>control</strong> <strong>function</strong>s as well as the memory.<br />

The CPU includes:<br />

Data transfers by bit or by byte with the input/output cards are via the serial bus.<br />

Data exchanges with the system are of two types:<br />

- communication via the exchange area,<br />

- communication by protocol.<br />
