a goodly array <strong>of</strong> canned fruits and meats, mostly tlie former, some<br />

<strong>in</strong> t<strong>in</strong> and <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>in</strong> glass. A'^<strong>in</strong>egars,<br />

rice-whiskey, soy, and <strong>the</strong> like are aljun-<br />

dant, and so is dried fish <strong>of</strong> several k<strong>in</strong>ds.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is a good display <strong>of</strong> tea and tobacco,<br />

<strong>the</strong> former be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> every form, from <strong>the</strong><br />

tea-plant np to <strong>the</strong> prepared article ready<br />

for shipn:ent. One has only to come here<br />

to see <strong>the</strong> many uses to which <strong>the</strong> Japan-<br />

ese put fibrous grasses <strong>in</strong> mak<strong>in</strong>g mats,<br />

are like displays <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> serviceability <strong>of</strong><br />

bamboo. From <strong>the</strong> north <strong>of</strong> Japan <strong>the</strong>re<br />

po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>the</strong>re are models <strong>of</strong> boats and nets<br />
