Front X-members are riveted to the frame side bars<br />

and are additionally reinforced to form a wide box<br />

section for stiffness. Rear arms are tapered to provide<br />

uniform strength throughout that is not weakened by<br />

the propeller shaft passage. Plates reinforce the center<br />

junction point of the X-members at both top and bottom<br />

for additional strength.<br />

The unusually heavy front cross member is also<br />

reinforced by a steel plate at the bottom to which is<br />

Rigid X, I-Beam <strong>LaSalle</strong> Frame<br />

bolted the brackets supporting the strong cross rods for<br />

rigid attachment of the lower wishbone arms of the<br />

Knee Action assembly. The cross member also supports<br />

the front end mounting which consists of securing<br />

the front fender braces and radiator casing to a cradle<br />

in front of and attached to the radiator core. This construction<br />

provides front end rigidity, eliminates vibration<br />

and also affords radiator protection in event of<br />

accident.<br />

The front end of the frame has been tipped down to a<br />

horizontal position which centers the caster adjustment<br />

of the front wheels for easier, quicker servicing.<br />

Cadillac Sixty Special: This model has an entirely<br />

new frame to accommodate increased wheelbase and<br />

increased body length. Striking, ground-gripping appearance<br />

has been achieved by lowering the frame three<br />

inches. This has been accomplished by use of a double<br />
