Cadillacs. The heavy steel bar is linked between the<br />

rear frame cross member and the rear spring clip.<br />

Cross Link Rear Stabilizer<br />

V-8 and Fleetwood<br />

These links permit the stabilizer to counteract both<br />

rolling and sidewise body-to-chassis movements.<br />

Rear Springs and Shackles<br />

Semi-elliptic rear springs are used on all series. The<br />

spring leaves are separated by liners impregnated with a<br />

wax anti-friction material and never require lubrication<br />

nor will they ever squeak. Waxed rear spring liners are<br />

exclusive to all Cadillacs and <strong>LaSalle</strong>. With liners spring<br />

covers are detrimental since they act as dirt collectors,<br />

hence they are not used on any of the new series.<br />

Strong and resilient leaves are used for silent flexibility<br />

and each is grooved lengthwise through the center<br />

which increases spring strength in proportion to weight.<br />

These grooves also serve to hold the waxed liners<br />

permanently in place.<br />
