<strong>The</strong> Trust is using its foundation trust status to develop its services <strong>and</strong> improve patient care. An<br />

example of this is that the Trust was able to use retained cash surpluses to provide a new Cath<br />

Lab.<br />

3.17 Performance against key healthcare targets<br />

Details of performance against key healthcare indicators is set out elsewhere in this report (section<br />

6.4 refers).<br />

3.18 Arrangements for monitoring improvements in the quality<br />

of healthcare<br />

Continuous monitoring of the Quality Account <strong>and</strong> Improvement Plan <strong>and</strong> National Targets is<br />

observed monthly. <strong>The</strong> improvement indicators <strong>and</strong> national targets inform the Safety <strong>and</strong><br />

Performance Dashboard <strong>and</strong> are reported through to our Commissioners <strong>and</strong> Trust Board via an<br />

Executive Committee. <strong>The</strong> Quality Account improvement indicators also inform a Patient Safety<br />

<strong>and</strong> Quality Committee each month.<br />

Compliance Monitoring of the CQC regulations is undertaken through a Clinical St<strong>and</strong>ards Group,<br />

the Patient Safety <strong>and</strong> Quality Committee <strong>and</strong> Executive Committee up to Trust Board.<br />

Compliance monitoring is informed by the CQC Quality <strong>and</strong> Risk Profile. Exceptions in compliance<br />

or risks identified inform the Trust’s 15+ Risk Register (a register of top risks) <strong>and</strong> actions plans are<br />

developed <strong>and</strong> progress monitored to ensure any evidence of compliance or strengthened where<br />

appropriate.<br />

3.19 Progress towards targets<br />

Progress with national targets informs the Trust Safety <strong>and</strong> Performance dashboard which<br />

is shared <strong>and</strong> monitored by our commissioners, as well as monitored through the Executive<br />

Committee <strong>and</strong> Trust Board. Monthly directorate performance meetings are held to monitor<br />

performance at directorate level. Quarterly reporting on compliance with the national targets<br />

informs Monitor quarterly.<br />

Progress towards targets as agreed with local commissioners, together with details of other key<br />

quality improvements are included elsewhere in this report (section 6.4 refers).<br />
