Lyn Hill-Tout, Chief Executive (until 12 June 2011)<br />

Lyn was an Executive Director of the Trust from November 1997 <strong>and</strong> Chief Executive of the Trust<br />

for nine years. Lyn’s background was in operational general management. Lyn was a graduate of<br />

the Institute of Personnel <strong>and</strong> Development (1994) <strong>and</strong> held a HNC in Business Studies <strong>and</strong> Public<br />

Administration (1988). Until March 2008 she was a Trustee of Age Concern (Swindon) <strong>and</strong> was<br />

also Chair of NHS Elect.<br />

Lyn left the Trust in June 2011 to take up the position of Chief Executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS<br />

Foundation Trust.<br />

Dr Alf Troughton, Medical Director (interim Chief Executive - 1 June – 30 September 2011)<br />

Alf has been Medical Director at the Trust since 1 April 2006. He has been a consultant radiologist<br />

at the Trust since 1994 <strong>and</strong> was the Clinical Director of Radiology for five years. He was the<br />

Radiology President at the Royal Society of Medicine between 2003 <strong>and</strong> 2005. Alf obtained his<br />

degree in medicine in 1978 from the University of Bristol <strong>and</strong> became a member of the Royal<br />

College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1984. Subsequently Alf became a fellow of the Royal College of<br />

Radiologists (FRCR) in 1989 <strong>and</strong> a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCR) in 1997.<br />

Despite his managerial commitments Alf continues to practice as a Radiology consultant part time<br />

as this helps him to keep in touch first h<strong>and</strong> with the clinical services provided by the Trust.<br />

During 2011/12 Alf Troughton was appointed interim Chief Executive following the resignation of<br />

Lyn Hill-Tout who left the Trust in June 2011. He returned to his substantive post in October 2011<br />

when Nerissa Vaughan joined the Trust as Chief Executive.<br />

Maria Moore, Director of Finance<br />

Maria was appointed as Director of Finance on 29 September 2008. She had previously held the<br />

Deputy Director of Finance post at the Trust having joined in March 2003. Maria has over 18 years<br />

experience in the NHS which she joined as a Regional Finance Management Trainee in 1994.<br />

Since completing her training, she has worked in several acute Trusts. Maria graduated from<br />

London University with a degree in Mathematics <strong>and</strong> is a member of the Chartered Institute of<br />

Management Accountants (ACMA).<br />

Oonagh Fitzgerald, Director of Workforce <strong>and</strong> Education<br />

Oonagh joined the Trust in February 2008. Oonagh had previously worked as Director of Human<br />

Resources <strong>and</strong> Organisation Development at Kingston <strong>Hospital</strong>, South West London <strong>and</strong> prior to<br />

that she was Deputy Director of Human Resources at Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust in Croydon,<br />

South London. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel <strong>and</strong> Development. She<br />

originally studied law at university <strong>and</strong> gained a Masters in HR Leadership in 2005.<br />

Sue Rowley, Director of Nursing <strong>and</strong> Midwifery<br />

Sue registered as a General Nurse in 1982, undertook her diploma of nursing, registering as a<br />

clinical tutor in 1987. Sue specialised in trauma <strong>and</strong> orthopaedics as a Ward Sister <strong>and</strong> Senior<br />

Nurse before moving into General Management. Sue was successful in applying for the Kings<br />

Fund Leadership Programme (1999–2001) <strong>and</strong> studied leadership in healthcare nationally <strong>and</strong><br />

internationally spending time in both Hong Kong <strong>and</strong> China. Sue was appointed Director of<br />

Operations in August 2003, then to Director of Nursing & Midwifery as a statutory Board member in<br />

September 2006. Sue has recently achieved a MSc in Strategic Management at Bristol University.<br />
