Helen Bourner, Director of Business Development (until 5 April 2012)<br />

Helen spent a number of years working in the hotel sector, latterly as Regional Director of Sales for<br />

the North of Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Scotl<strong>and</strong> for Hilton Hotels. She worked for NHS Estates (an executive<br />

agency of the Department of Health) <strong>and</strong> NHSU (the NHS University) from 2000 – 2005 providing<br />

advice <strong>and</strong> guidance on the Consumerism agenda arising out of the NHS Plan in 2000. She<br />

entered the NHS through the Gateway to Leadership Scheme, joining Barnsley <strong>Hospital</strong> NHS<br />

Foundation Trust in 2005. Helen has been Director of Business Development since August 2008.<br />

Helen left the Trust at the beginning of April 2012 to take up the position of Director of Commercial<br />

<strong>and</strong> Corporate Development at Warrington <strong>and</strong> Halton <strong>Hospital</strong>s NHS Foundation Trust.<br />

Guy Rooney, Interim Medical Director (1 June – 30 September 2011)<br />

Dr Guy Rooney joined the Board as interim Medical Director in May 2011 when the Medical<br />

Director acted up as Chief Executive pending the appointment of a substantive post holder. Dr Guy<br />

Rooney is a consultant in Sexual health <strong>and</strong> HIV <strong>and</strong> has been working for the Trust as a<br />

consultant since 1999. For the last few years he has been one of the Associate Medical Directors<br />

with responsibility for the Diagnostics <strong>and</strong> Outpatients directorate. In addition he provided the<br />

clinical input into the bid for Wiltshire community services. Guy returned to his post as an Associate<br />

Medical Director in October 2011.<br />

Jenny Barker, Director of Transition (1 June - 31 December 2011)<br />

Jenny was a Managing Director at Wiltshire Community Health Services since the reconfiguration<br />

of the Primary Care Trusts in Wiltshire in October 2006. She began her career in nursing at the<br />

Royal London <strong>Hospital</strong> in 1978. She then held a series of senior nursing appointments within the<br />

NHS <strong>and</strong> the private sector, rising to become BUPA Health Services' Director of Nursing. Jenny<br />

returned to the NHS in 1994 as a Directorate Manager in a university teaching hospital in London.<br />

She was seconded to work as the Project Director for the reconfiguration of hospital services in<br />

South West London <strong>and</strong> masterminded the reduction in services at Queen Mary University <strong>Hospital</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> the increase in services to St George's Tooting <strong>and</strong> Kingston <strong>Hospital</strong> Trusts. She relocated<br />

the Regional Burns Unit from Queen Mary to Chelsea <strong>and</strong> Westminster <strong>Hospital</strong>. Jenny has a<br />

wealth of experience in senior NHS roles including Deputy Chief Executive at Dorset County<br />

<strong>Hospital</strong>, the challenging role of Recovery Director for the Bath <strong>and</strong> Wiltshire Health Community,<br />

Director of Operations & Acting Chief Executive at the Royal United <strong>Hospital</strong> in Bath. Jenny gained<br />

an MBA in 1997. Since GWH became the preferred provider for Wiltshire Community Health<br />

Services, Jenny was seconded to this Trust, assisting the Board of Directors as the Director<br />

Transition (designate). Jenny became the Director of Transition on 1 June 2011 coinciding with the<br />

formal transfer of Wiltshire Community Services to this Trust. Jenny left the Trust in December<br />

2011 having completed the transitional work, returning to NHS Wiltshire.<br />
