Information Access<br />

In past <strong>International</strong> <strong>Joint</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> studies, the final products have always comprised a set of final<br />

hardcopy documents and annexes. The supporting documentation, databases and models were left to<br />

those who created them, dispersed amongst agencies, organizations, and contractors, and generally not<br />

accessible for use beyond the Study. The development of an Information Management Strategy (IMS) was<br />

deemed important by this Study Board for long-term utilization of data assets compiled or created within<br />

the Study. The Information Management Strategy included a comprehensive assessment of available<br />

information resources, likely future additional resources, capabilities of partners and alternative approaches<br />

for integrated information management and data access constraints and limitations. The Information<br />

Management Strategy promoted improvements in data storage, discovery, evaluation and access, all of<br />

which were addressed by this Study.<br />

<strong>FINAL</strong> <strong>REPORT</strong><br />

The Information Management Strategy chosen for this Study focused on using the Internet for information<br />

discovery, evaluation and access. The components of the Information Management Strategy are depicted<br />

below in Figure 47.<br />
