Location <strong>and</strong> type of customers plac<strong>in</strong>g onl<strong>in</strong>e orders<br />
Most P&P companies report that <strong>the</strong>y receive onl<strong>in</strong>e orders ma<strong>in</strong>ly from customers <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong>ir own country, while not be<strong>in</strong>g focused on <strong>the</strong>ir own region. More than 90% of those<br />
companies that accept onl<strong>in</strong>e orders from customers report ei<strong>the</strong>r regional or national<br />
customers as <strong>the</strong>ir ma<strong>in</strong> geographic e-commerce market (see Exhibit 3-30). Less than<br />
10% of firms said that orders were truly <strong>in</strong>ternational, i.e. <strong>the</strong>y receive orders ma<strong>in</strong>ly from<br />
an <strong>in</strong>ternational customer base. This is a lower <strong>in</strong>cidence of <strong>in</strong>ternational trade than on<br />
average <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r sectors, where close to 25% of companies with e-commerce<br />
reported an <strong>in</strong>ternational focus.<br />
