papiNet® works with o<strong>the</strong>r organisations to help ensure that common st<strong>and</strong>ards issues<br />
are resolved <strong>in</strong> a mutually compatible way. Several examples show <strong>the</strong> effectiveness of<br />
this strategy. WoodX <strong>and</strong> XBITS, two groups were at first develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>ir own st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />
have s<strong>in</strong>ce affiliated with papiNet. A fur<strong>the</strong>r example is <strong>the</strong> collaboration with CIDX® 69<br />
which has resulted <strong>in</strong> significant changes be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>troduced <strong>in</strong> CIDX to enable <strong>the</strong> paper<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> chemical <strong>in</strong>dustry to use <strong>the</strong> Shipp<strong>in</strong>g Instructions message. 70<br />
No certification overheads<br />
papiNet® has not <strong>in</strong>troduced any certification requirements or o<strong>the</strong>r overhead processes.<br />
Notwithst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> implementation templates developed by <strong>the</strong> SIGs, <strong>the</strong> possibility that<br />
trad<strong>in</strong>g companies will choose to deviate from <strong>the</strong> given recommendations is recognised.<br />
In such <strong>in</strong>stance, <strong>the</strong> two companies are required to document <strong>the</strong> reason for <strong>the</strong><br />
deviations <strong>and</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> that as part of <strong>the</strong>ir project.<br />
To prevent <strong>the</strong> proliferation of multiple st<strong>and</strong>ards that would cause <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustry more work<br />
<strong>the</strong> papiNet® copyright notice explicitly states that "Documents may be used as<br />
templates for a papiNet® implementation. The Presenters grant <strong>the</strong> right to modify <strong>and</strong><br />
