constructors, quality assurance of construction, integrated design process) which do not<br />

include target values to achieve, but processes to pass.<br />

LEED <strong>for</strong> Homes mainly focuses on construction waste management <strong>and</strong> protection<br />

measures <strong>for</strong> soil to guarantee prospective planting <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong>scaping.<br />

Reduction, diversion, re-use, recycling of construction site waste is assessed in almost all<br />

systems (apart from SBTool applicable <strong>for</strong> small residential <strong>buildings</strong> where the waste arising<br />

in the construction phase is neglected).<br />

Energy <strong>and</strong> water use are minor impacts in relation to the overall impacts of the building<br />

<strong>and</strong> there<strong>for</strong>e usually not assessed (CSH requires setting targets <strong>for</strong> site-<strong>related</strong> energy <strong>and</strong><br />

water consumption <strong>and</strong> monitoring measures <strong>for</strong> verification).<br />

Emissions resulting from transports to <strong>and</strong> from site are usually not directly assessed, but<br />

taken into account by the requirement <strong>for</strong> regional materials <strong>and</strong> products. Reduction of<br />

the building site traffic by avoidance of unloaded trips (from the site) <strong>and</strong> by higher usage<br />

of trains or waterways (if applicable) is only assessed within TQB (<strong>for</strong> more in<strong>for</strong>mation to<br />

traffic-<strong>related</strong> issues; see also chapter “Energy <strong>and</strong> CO 2 Emissions).<br />
