“Products’ management”<br />

Total Quality Building <strong>and</strong> the other Austrian building assessment systems (klima:aktiv Haus,<br />

IBO ÖKOPASS) are very often combined with a program called “Products’ management” (in<br />

German: “Produktmanagement” or “Chemikalienmanagement”).<br />

Products’ management means the proper selection <strong>and</strong> quality control of building products in<br />

order to avoid the emission of indoor air pollutants. It is carried out by independent third<br />

parties (intern or extern) und comprises<br />

- introduction of environmentally sound <strong>criteria</strong> in call <strong>for</strong> tender <strong>and</strong> the award contract,<br />

- control <strong>and</strong> release <strong>for</strong> use of all building materials,<br />

- regular check on the building site.<br />

The successful application is documented in a report <strong>and</strong> has to be proved by indoor air<br />

measurement.<br />

Products have to be considered, if they are<br />

- building chemicals applied to the room covering (exterior <strong>and</strong> interior)<br />

- building materials which are applied inside of the rooms (airtight layer <strong>and</strong> all building<br />

materials inside of it)<br />
