South Korean Investments in France<br />

There are nearly 50 South Korean companies doing business in France, employing<br />

over 4,300 people<br />

Nearly half of the South Korean projects in France from 2007-2011 were in businessto-business<br />

services<br />

Selected recent investment projects:<br />

ESSEX-IVA, a subsidiary of LS Cable, a global leader in designing, manufacturing and supplying electric wires<br />

and cables, created a technical varnish unit in 2010 in Meyzieu (Rhône-Alpes region)<br />

Namyeung Vivien Corporation bought out the French lingerie company Barbara in 2010. The operation helped<br />

maintain more than 50 jobs in Arcueil in Ile-de-France (Paris region)<br />

EXR Korea acquired Jean-Charles de Castelbajac from the Sixth Swedish National Pension fund (AP6) in<br />

September 2011 for approximately €3M<br />

Amore Pacific acquired Annick Goutal from Starwood Capital Group in August 2011 for €20M<br />

National Pension Service of Korea acquired 51% of the shares of O‘Parinor Shopping Center from<br />

Hammerson<br />

Plc in August 2010 for €217M<br />

Société minière du Sud Pacifique (SMSP) and Posco Ltd created a 51/49 joint venture (Nickel Mining<br />

Company) in April 2006. The global investment is worth $720M (construction of a $350M plant and mining<br />

assets worth $360M)<br />

The number of South Korean investments in France in 2011 was not in line with this<br />

country‘s economic prowess and technological promise<br />
