4.3.2 Initializing mailboxes
4.3.2.1 Detailed description
4.3.2.1.1 Description
Mailboxes are initialized by their owners when they entering their individual passwords and
register their names. These operations are performed when the mailbox is first opened
(Application mode only).
Important:
When creating/modifying your password we recommend to respect some basic rules for a good
password management:
- Implement a company security policy (e.g. regularly update all user passwords)
- Modify the default number of digits, and use 6 digits per password (as of R8.2)
- Avoid the use of simple passwords such as suite of figures or repeated figures
- User is forced by the OmniPCX Office system to change the default password when
initializing his/her Voice mail
- Do not disclose passwords to other persons/colleagues, etc.
- Lock extensions when not being attended (i.e. holidays, night time, weekend, etc.)
Password creation and security is the responsibility of the user/system Administrator or Installer.
Therefore, if somebody is accessing the PA (Personal Assistant), remote call forwarding
configuration, nomadic mode configuration or DISA Transit (remote substitution) using a correct
password, then it is deemed that he/she is an authorized user of the password.
For more information about passwords, see Access Control - Password Management
